Robert “Andy” Gaines will compete in the Internetworking competition during the SkillsUSA National Conference in Louisville, Kentucky, in June. Thousands of student and professional SkillsUSA members will attend this week-long conference. Just last month, Mr. Gaines was awarded the gold medal in this competition during the state conference in Chattanooga allowing him to advance to this prestigious level.

Andy graduated from the Computer Information Technology (CIT) program offered by the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Ripley last month. While enrolled in the program he earned the Computing Technology Industrial Association (CompTIA) certifications including:  A+, Network+, and Security+. He also achieved certifications in Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) and the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).

Mr. Gaines will spend numerous hours preparing to compete against gold medalists from other states for the opportunity to place among the top three in the Nation.  He has the support of the TCAT Ripley SkillsUSA members who are planning various fundraising events over the next several weeks to assist with conference expenses. Anyone wanting to contribute to the Chapter, may contact Amy Stephens at 731-413-4076.

Andy is a resident of Lauderdale County.
